Notes

  1. All instructions cause a change to the grid of words.
  2. Each instruction leaves the grid composed of English words.
    1. Unless clearly implied, no change will result in a proper noun in the grid. Proper nouns are still considered words for all purposes.
  3. Unless stated otherwise, instructions refer to the single grid word which meets the criteria.
  4. The word interior refers to anything that isn’t the first or last letter.
  5. When center applies in a way that isn’t technically possible, choose one of the two closest possibilities which forms a valid word, e.g. the two letters center of SWEAT are either WE or EA, so choose WE.

Instructions

  1. Let foo & bar be 2 different words in the grid.
Let foo2 & bar2 be homophones of foo & bar respectively.
foo2 & bar2 have the same silent letter.
Let quz be this silent letter.
Replace foo with foo2 & bar with bar2.
  2. Let foo be the word that appears in a Harry Potter novel title.
Replace foo with the word that comes after foo in the title.
  3. Let foo be the word meaning help in the grid.
foo contains the same letter 3 times.
    let bar be this letter.
Move bar to the front of 3 of the 4 orthogonally adjacent squares.
Now that foo is half its original length, move the 1st letter from the 4th of the orthogonally adjacent squares to the front of foo.
(If done correctly, the letters in the grid have not changed, simply rearranged to form new words.)
  4. Let foo be the word fully contained in bar.
Bar is another word in its column.
The letters of foo are in order but not necessarily consecutive.
    Swap foo and bar.
  5. Let foo be the word which is equal to the 1st letters of all the words in its column.
Let bar be the word which is an anagram of the 1st letters of the words in foo’s row other than foo.
    Replace foo with bar.
  6. Let foo be the word which is the name of a few movies.
Let bar be the 2nd person to portray the title role.
    Replace foo with bar’s surname.
  7. Let bar be the nickname (used for athletic teams) of the [largest] University of foo.
foo is a word in the grid, bar is not.
    Replace foo with bar.
  8. Let foo be the word in the center of the grid.
Let bar be the word in the same row which starts with the same letter as foo.
Let N be the number of letters of foo.
Replace the 1st letter of foo with the Nth letter of bar.
    Replace bar with BAYOU.
  9. Swap the locations of every pair of words which end in the same trigram.
  10. Let foo be a word that begins with a 3-letter question, bar.
Move bar to the end of a different word in the grid.
  11. Let foo be the word from the previous step that became shorter.
Replace foo with the word BOTH.
  12. Let foo be a word in the 2nd row with one O.
Change the O to OO in foo.
  13. For each major world leader's surname, replace it with their first name.
  14. For each word foo with a repeated consecutive letter (e.g. ZZ), let bar be the letter repeated (e.g. Z).
If there is a word, baz, which contains bar, and baz is in the same row as foo, swap locations of foo and baz.
  15. Remove all the BA bigrams in the 5th column.
  16. Let foo & bar be 2 particular words in the grid.
When foo & bar are combined, they mean mercenary.
    Swap foo and bar.
  17. Let foo be a word in the 3rd column with a 3-letter word, bar, found backward in the center.
foo is 5 letters in length or longer.
    Replace foo with bar.
  18. For each 6-letter word, remove its second half.
  19. Let foo be the word that is a homophone of a letter (bar).
Take all words orthogonally adjacent to foo which contain bar, and anagram them without any bars to form a new word.
Replace foo with this new word.
  20. Let foo be the word in the top left corner.
Let bar be the word which starts with the interior letters of foo.
Replace bar with the first/last of foo.
  21. Insert quz in the interior of a word in the middle column.
This new word is the output.
